About Sarah
Sarah Ackerman is a seasoned stage manager with over 12 years of professional experience in regional theatre, musical theatre, and opera. A graduate of Michigan State University with a BFA in Stage Management & Design and a minor in Arts and Cultural Management, Sarah brings a versatile and collaborative approach to every production they join.
Most recently, Sarah served as Production Stage Manager for Jesus Christ Superstar at the Fulton Theatre and assistant costume designer for the world premiere of Soft Target at Detroit Public Theatre. They were also the PSM for Favorite Son—an Emmy-nominated opera-musical hybrid by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Marcus Hummon—produced at Nashville Opera.

In addition to their work on professional stages, Sarah has led large-scale high school musical productions for over six years as the Technical Director at Stoney Creek High School, mentoring over 100 students annually in full-scale theatrical work.

Sarah also freelances as a makeup artist, wig and prop designer, and guest lecturer, collaborating with clients across musical theatre, opera, and the bridal industry. They hold a Trained Crowd Manager certification through the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM)
and have managed a wide range of events and industrials nationwide.
Sarah is passionate about storytelling, team leadership, and fostering rehearsal and backstage environments rooted in trust, safety, and excellence. They are especially drawn to collaborating on new works and original productions, bringing their experience and adaptability to creative teams developing fresh, impactful theatre.
